What is the difference between Grain Clean and Hospital Clean hold standards?
These standards define the required hold condition prior to loading bulk cargo.
Grain Clean: This is the most common standard for bulk cereals. Holds must be swept, washed, and dried. They must be free of insects, odors, and “previous cargo” residues. Loose rust scale must be removed, but some firmly adhering scale is permissible.
Hospital Clean: Required for sensitive high-value cargoes (e.g., mineral sands, certain processed feeds). All steel surfaces must be 100% coated (paint intact). No rust scale of any kind is permitted. Marvera requires this standard for cargoes with zero contamination tolerance.
What steps are taken to prevent cross-contamination in containers?
We have a strict equipment vetting process based on previous cargo history. As per that, we reject containers that previously carried hazardous chemicals, hides, or odorous cargoes. For sensitive food products, we select food-grade containers that have undergone steam cleaning and are free from floor stains or structural odors that could taint the commodity.
How do you handle phytosanitary certification?
We manage the issuance of the phytosanitary certificate and certificate of origin to align exactly with the letter of intent and the import requirements of the destination country. That way we prevent documentation discrepancies that could lead to customs hold and demurrage.
